Giclée Art

About Giclée Art
A Giclée, pronounced 'Zsheeclay' is a French word meaning sprayed ink. It is very high resolution digital print recognised as a fine art print category. It is considered the world's best technique for the reproduction of original works of art printed on real artist materials.Giclée prints look and feel like orignal art and have the quality and intensity of colour that is unique to the medium. The permanence of the image is very important to artists and collectors. Giclée prints utilise permanent pigment inks and high quality materials with a life expectancy of 200 years based on museum quality lighting.

Certificate of Authenticity
A certificate of Authenticity adds value to a fine art print. It is a document that states the details of the prints production and edition number and is generally sighed by the artist providing further proof of authenticity and ownership.

Limited Editions
The idea of an 'edition' is basic to the world of serial art. It is the Limited Edition which permits print makers and collectors to agree upon what is an original art print and what is a reproduction. A Limited Edition is defined as a high quality reproduction of an original work of art, they are individually numbered with the totalnumber of the reproduction stated (eg 5/200) I have chosen to limit editions of my prints to 75 to make them more collectable and valuable. Once the edition is sold out no more limited edition prints of the image can be produced and this is what can make the print valuable on the resale or 'secondary market'.
